The water is closed thanks to Tropical Storm Fred.
Double Red flages mean STAY OUT OF THE WATER
Beach and Surf Patrol have sent a beach flag status update today, August 16, 2021. Panama City beach flags are now Double Red
Always remember that you have to check the actual flag at the beach before entering the water! Remember to always swim with caution and, an absence of flags DOES NOT mean the water is safe.
Panama City Beaches are now closed because of high surf caused by Tropical Storm #Fred. Easy to see why from this video! #FLwx pic.twitter.com/Xe9ctxgIwM

Depending on what end of the beach they start on, it can sometimes be a few hours before the flags are changed on this end of the beach.
