Beach and Surf Patrol have sent a beach flag status update today, October 14, 2021. Panama City beach flags are now Yellow and Purple (Learn more about what a purple flag means over Panama City Beach »)
Red Tide in Panama City Beach FL
The current purple flag is most likely due to the current presence of red tide on the PCB Beaches along the Gulf of Mexico from the M.B. Miller Pier, 12213 Front Beach Road, Panama City Beach, to Mexico Beach.
Always remember that you have to check the actual flag at the beach before entering the water! Remember to always swim with caution and, an absence of flags DOES NOT mean the water is safe.
Depending on what end of the beach they start on, it can sometimes be a few hours before the flags are changed on this end of the beach.
