Beach and Surf Patrol have sent a text with a beach flag status update today, May 7, 2022. Panama City beach flags are now Double Red. The website system has not been updated, but we received a text stating double red flags are in effect. We verified that double red flags are flying over the Sandpiper Beacon by looking at the East Cam.….so that’s good enough for us! DOUBLE RED! That means don’t get in the water. You can face a fine if you venture into the water while double red flags are flying.
Always remember that you have to check the actual flag at the beach before entering the water! Remember to always swim with caution and, an absence of flags DOES NOT mean the water is safe.
Depending on what end of the beach they start on, it can sometimes be a few hours before the flags are changed on this end of the beach.
