Beach and Surf Patrol have sent a beach flag status update today, September 6, 2022. Panama City beach flags are now Yellow and Purple (learn more about what a purple beach flag means). The flag shows Yellow/Purple at the beach cam at Sandpiper Beacon….even though the 'iframe' provided by the county currently only shows a yellow flag.
Why is the purple flag flying over the PCB beach today (8/20/22)?
In the text sent out by beach and Surf Patrol, the purple flag is flying 8/20/22 because jellyfish are present.
Always remember that you have to check the actual flag at the beach before entering the water! Remember to always swim with caution and, an absence of flags DOES NOT mean the water is safe.
Depending on what end of the beach they start on, it can sometimes be a few hours before the flags are changed on this end of the beach.
