Dog-Friendly Hike
We took the kids and dogs to explore Panama City Beach’s Conservation Park today. We didn’t have the best shoes for a hike (mostly flip flops), but it was totally fine. We took the loop around Cypress Pond Trail which has two sections of boardwalk over the marsh, and the sandy part is well-compacted and easy to walk on even with flip flops.
Dogs on Leashes Allowed
Dogs on leashes are allowed (no more than 2 per person) so we took Jet & Raven along. There are dog “waste stations” located at the trail head with convenient bags and covered trash bins.
Watch Out for the American Alligator
The hike was really beautiful. My family will tell you I’m an “Always read the plaque.” kind of person. There are plaques all along the trail we took pointing out details about the wildlife and plants & trees.
After, we saw the ‘Watch out for…the American Alligator’ plaque, I was a little tiny bit nervous walking the back section of the trail with the dogs. I’ve obviously watched too much TV news. 😛
Picnic Area & Amphitheatre
The weather today was just perfect. Next time we go, we’ll plan ahead and bring a picnic and hopefully our bikes.
There are shaded picnic tables tucked in little nooks in the path. We visited the amphitheatre…not sure what it is used for, but it’s cool. There is also a pavillion that can be rented as I understand it.
